Spooky food season - Cookie Hats

 Hello!

Spooky Season is here and I can not let it go without cooking some spooky food. For a start I chose the Cookie Hats. Apparently these are pumpkin flavoured cookies and that's exactly what I used to make them: I used fresh pumpkin, some spices that go really well with it, sugar, eggs, flour... the works :) they turned out very nice, soft and a bit chewy, but I'm sure they could have been better and that's why I rated them with three and a half stars. But I'll tell you this, it was not a bad start of season ;) Enjoy!

Spooky Food for Spooky Season - Eliv Thade Sandwich

Hello!

This will be the last spooky food for this 2021 spooky season 😊 I've got so many things to do before Samhain/Halloween that I am forced to publish this today. And what is "this", you might ask? This is the amazingly weird Eliv Thade Sandwich - A rather odd looking bap filled with lettuce, tomato and some strange purple stuff. Now I must confess that as odd as this might be, this sandwich was very pleasant to eat and, mind you, reasonably healthy I dare to say. I used beetroot for the strange purple stuff and the buns I made turned out odd looking enough for this so... win win!

Eliv Thade Sandwich - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I rated this sandwich with four stars because the combination of flavours was really good. Lettuce, tomato, beetroot and mayo all stuffed in a fluffy steamed bun. What could possible come out wrong? 😋

Spooky Food for Spooky Season - Spyder Eggs

Hello!

Today I bring you a delicious recipe for any spooky table. And better yet, a food from Neopia! :D These are the Spyder Eggs - You might want to watch out when you try to reach for one of these eggs... - they are not very different from your regular and classic deviled eggs, well, at least the version I've made of them is not 😃

This is a spooky food I really wanted to make because it's easy, spooky in a cute way and in all honesty it's a good one to make me recover from the brain ones 😅

Spyder Eggs - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I love eggs! I absolutely adore eggs! And I love deviled eggs and this food is not very far from a deviled egg so I knew just with how many stars I was going to rate it. Five stars for the Spyder Eggs, without a shadow of a doubt!

Spooky Food for Spooky Season - Squishy Brain Wrap

Hello!

Today on the Spooky Food for Spooky Season series I have another brainy recipe for you. The Squishy Brain Wrap - Edna claims this will make you smarter if you eat it... I doubt that! was most likely the biggest challenge I've ever been through when it comes to eating different foods (believe me, I have already tried mealworms and as amazing as it may seem it wasn't as unpleasant as eating brain). As you know, I had already tried brain in my previous neopian recipe and it wasn't such a success. This time it was even worse! I don't know if it was the combo of those sauces with the brain (I added sour cream sauce and garlic mayo), if I was already mentally uncomfortable of having to eat it again, or if it was just the fact (and I need to accept it) that I don't like brain.

Whatever it is, I am clearly not a fan of brain. I even left the wrap on my table so when my hunger would kick in with more strength, I would try it again. And I did. And I confess... I threw it away 😖 this was the first time I threw a neopian food in the litter bin, I'm not proud of it (far from it!) and I can assure you I will never make any more brain foods!

Squishy Brain Wrap - X - I know this is not supposed to happen but the truth is this food, for me, does not deserve not even one star, I'm sorry (I really am!). I was honestly repulsed by this food and I must also mention that if it wasn't for the entertainment purpose only I wouldn't even have tasted it. That's how bad it was for me (and believe me when I say it takes a lot for a food to have this effect on me due to flavour). No more bainy foods for me, thanks! 😕

Spooky Food for Spooky Season - Spaghetti and Brains

You can not believe how happy I was when, this year, I was able to get this ingredient to make some spooky dishes - pork's brain!

Last year I tried to get it but the butcher simply wouldn't order it giving me a ton of excuses. Well this year was different. Not only did I get it, but I also wasn't charged for it 😁 of course I had to make a huge order of meat to get the brain (I added my mom's meat order to mine to make a big one) but at least we got the brain 😊

Now, I must say this was my first time preparing and cooking this ingredient and Spaghetti and Brains - This messy dish has chunks of brain mixed in with the pasta - seemed like the perfect spooky food to start with this ingredient. And it was! It's just a shame that I honestly don't fancy brain as a food 😕 maybe it has something to do with the aroma, or the texture, maybe I should have used spaghetti instead of noodles (the aroma is different), maybe I didn't prepare the brain properly (I did wash it well and got rid of most of the fat and outer membrane - and I even added lemon juice! 😩)... or maybe this ingredient has some psychological effect on me. Maybe "all of the above". I don't know *shrugs*. I still have one recipe to go using this ingredient... lets see... but for now...

Spaghetti and Brains - ⭐⭐⭐ - three stars and with some sacrifice 😐 the noodles, egg and ketchup were alright but I did not enjoy the aroma of the brain, nor the texture. And I also believe my own brain created a barrier towards this ingredient. So, yeah, this was spaghetti and brains just for you 😅

Spooky food for Spooky season - Deadly Apple Pie

Spooky season just arrived! October is here and I am already feeling very anxious about the 31st of this month 😃 but as that date is still a few days away from now, I am going to make some spooky foods and, who knows, this might serve as inspiration for you to make something different to go with this spooky ambience 🎃
I'm starting off the season with a very simple dish, the Deadly Apple Pie - A slice from this pie would probably be your last. Of course I didn't make this deadly in any way, unless you consider "a pie to die for" as something related 😂
For this I used my favourite apple pie recipe and I have made it totally from scratch using my favourite dough recipe as well. I also used some strawberry topping to decorate those angry eyes :D

Deadly Apple Pie - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - This "deadly" apple pie receives five stars for the simple fact that this happens to be my favourite sweet pie. Give me apple pie anytime, anywhere and I'll be a happy girl 💓

Halloween - Spooky Food - White Chocolate Ghosts

Happy Halloween 🎃👻

The last spooky food of this year is the White Chocolate Ghosts - Now you can have your revenge on those troublesome little ghosts that are always stealing your Neopoints! I know it's a very simple one but honestly it was all I had time for (and even more honestly, if you know how temperamental chocolate is (and white chocolate shouldn't even be called chocolate) you would never call this simple 😅).

And I am also here writing this post on the run because I have a few guests in my house to celebrate Halloween (don't worry, safety measures are being held) and I have to go back there :P

There is nothing much to say about these guys, they are just plain white chocolate with candy eyes (in this case, sour skittles), but... they sure look fun on any Halloween table out there :D

White Chocolate Ghosts -  ⭐⭐⭐ - Three stars for these fellows because this is nothing more or less than white chocolate and I'm not the bigest fan of white chocolate. I eat it but it's not really my cup a' tea.

Halloween - Spooky Food - Count Cross Buns

I'm really running against time making these Halloween/Spooky foods!

Today I'm showing you the Count Cross Buns - Eat these delicious buns and repel vampires all at the same time. 

Well, these buns were fairly easy to put together and even easier to eat :D Spiced buns still warm from the oven??? Come on!!! ^_^

As this was a quite easy recipe, I'm struggling to get some brains for another recipe, most butchers simply won't get me any, which is really a bummer :( oh well...

Halloween - Spooky Food - Ghost Pancakes

Continuing this adventure on Spooky Foods just because it's Halloween time, here you have my take on Ghost Pancakes - These pancakes taste delicious, providing you can stop them floating around the room long enough to eat them...
Making the pancakes was fairly easy but shaping them... good gracious! :P

Ghost Pancakes -⭐⭐⭐⭐- I rate this with four stars because nothing beats a classic like this: pancakes and honey. I don't care if they are angry ghosts or not, they are delicious! :D And, come on... look at that cutest shape!

Halloween - Spooky Food - Pumpkin Pie

 Hello!

Halloween is a pretty busy time of the year for me. And now even more with the pandemic new rules that we have to follow. I want to make Neopian recipes that relate to the Halloween theme but it seems like I'm just soooooo busy :P

Anyway, even if I don't post any more Spooky/Halloween foods, at least I made one: Pumpkin Pie - Legends say that they used to make these pies out of something other than pumpkin in the past...

And this is a fairly easy thing to make and oh so delicious. 

I usually only bake pumpkin pies during Fall and it is a very recent thing that I bake because in Portugal we don't have the pumpkin pie tradition. But, as you know, I am a kitchen/food/gastronomy lover and I have a big interest in food all around the world! And I was just so curious about pumpkin pie that I obviously had to make it and it rapidly became a favourite of the house ;)

But, anyway, here you have it, the video for Neopian Spooky Pumpkin Pie.
