I'm sorry it took me so long to come back to this corner. I'm not gonna lie, I developed a new addiction that is consuming a lot of my time, to the point where I don't even feel like cooking nor eating so... you can tell how serious this is... you know... I'm just your regular everyday normal sagittarius having major addictions on fictional characters and stories... and I'll leave you at that 😂😂
So, to start off the new year I decided to share with you this very tropical food, the Papaya with seaweed - This papaya tasted too good to be healthy...so we dumped some seaweed on top. Now it tastes so bad you KNOW its good for you! - you know, just to be healthy and what not.

It's been almost a month since I last posted something here. I'm sorry. Life happens :) I don't know if I ever mentioned that in the middle of this year we were able to rescue another cat litter from my street and I ended up fostering the five kittens. It was a lot of work 'cause I already have three of my own and my house is not that big, it's just a regular portuguese apartment. Anyway, we rescued that and along the way we spayed a male cat (we named him Blue) from my street 'cause he got in the cage that was meant for the litter's mother. We then succeeded and spayed their mother (who had in the meanwhile had another litter - which we were able to catch with a few tragedies in the middle) and luckily the vets helped us give them for adoption! Except Blue, he was quite feral so he was returned to the colony. We were also able to give a home to another female cat who had been living in my street for at least eleven years! We also got a kitten to give for adoption to a woman who knocked on my door on the 31st of October asking for a month old kitten. I showed her a picture of a kitten we had for adoption who was about two months old. Her reaction was quite bland. The next day we tried to contact her and she only answered by the end of the day saying she wasn't interested anymore. I was mad I was "stuck" with another kitten (by this time the others I was fostering had already been adopted) but then I thought and I was happy I never gave her the kitty. It was Halloween and people are superstitious and stupid. Who knows what she had in mind! I was mostly shocked with myself. I always pay attention to this very important detail! Never give cats for adoption on Halloween! Still we were able to give him for adoption a couple of weeks later :)
But these are not the reasons why I haven't been active here. The truth is, I ended up adopting one of the kittens I fostered.
Meet Cooper (about 7 months old), the youngest member of the family and the only boy, the tabby in the front ^_^ - and the rest of the siblings, of course: Maggie (calico - 5 years old); Pinky (grey - 5 years old) and Toffee (black - 1 year old).
And I confess I felt pretty overwhelmed with a fourth cat. Also, my boyfriend quit his job and started a new one that f*cked up my entire routine. And last week he had a (gladly) minor car accident that switched our priorities a bit. And, to top it all, most of my family's birthdays started in November and guess who bakes the cakes? I don't know, I just felt overwhelmed with everything in the past few months and it all came down on my shoulders in November so, please, forgive me.
Now, onto the real content of this blog. This is a hotdog I had already made before Halloween but never got to post it so here it is, the Coconut Hot Dog - A little sweet coconut tops off this tasty hot dog.
It wasn't that bad. I was actually disappointed because all I could taste was the sausage and no coconut at all. And so I added more coconut XD

Coconut Hotdog -⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I gave this food four stars because it wasn't a bad combo, coconut and hot dog. I was pleasantly surprised by this food ^_^.

This will be the last spooky food for this 2021 spooky season 😊 I've got so many things to do before Samhain/Halloween that I am forced to publish this today. And what is "this", you might ask? This is the amazingly weird Eliv Thade Sandwich - A rather odd looking bap filled with lettuce, tomato and some strange purple stuff. Now I must confess that as odd as this might be, this sandwich was very pleasant to eat and, mind you, reasonably healthy I dare to say. I used beetroot for the strange purple stuff and the buns I made turned out odd looking enough for this so... win win!

Eliv Thade Sandwich -⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I rated this sandwich with four stars because the combination of flavours was really good. Lettuce, tomato, beetroot and mayo all stuffed in a fluffy steamed bun. What could possible come out wrong? 😋

Today I have a seasonal drink (not a spooky food) just to wash down all the spooky food I've been making so far :D This is the Cold Apple Cider - A refreshing sweet cider made of fresh apples. And let me tell you, this was delicious! Specially after adding some vodka in it 😏
I did make an apple cider for this season last year as well - here's a connection if you want to check it out - but it was the hot apple cider and by that time I was already guessing I prefered it cold... and I was right 😋

Cold Apple Cider -⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I gave this drink a rating of five stars because this has to be one of the most delicious drinks I've ever made! I made the needed adjustments considering last year's recipe and it is a cold drink which is a total winner in my books ^_^ Yummy!!!

Today I bring you a delicious recipe for any spooky table. And better yet, a food from Neopia! :D These are the Spyder Eggs - You might want to watch out when you try to reach for one of these eggs... - they are not very different from your regular and classic deviled eggs, well, at least the version I've made of them is not 😃
This is a spooky food I really wanted to make because it's easy, spooky in a cute way and in all honesty it's a good one to make me recover from the brain ones 😅

Spyder Eggs - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I love eggs! I absolutely adore eggs! And I love deviled eggs and this food is not very far from a deviled egg so I knew just with how many stars I was going to rate it. Five stars for the Spyder Eggs, without a shadow of a doubt!

Today on the Spooky Food for Spooky Season series I have another brainy recipe for you. The Squishy Brain Wrap - Edna claims this will make you smarter if you eat it... I doubt that! was most likely the biggest challenge I've ever been through when it comes to eating different foods (believe me, I have already tried mealworms and as amazing as it may seem it wasn't as unpleasant as eating brain). As you know, I had already tried brain in my previous neopian recipe and it wasn't such a success. This time it was even worse! I don't know if it was the combo of those sauces with the brain (I added sour cream sauce and garlic mayo), if I was already mentally uncomfortable of having to eat it again, or if it was just the fact (and I need to accept it) that I don't like brain.
Whatever it is, I am clearly not a fan of brain. I even left the wrap on my table so when my hunger would kick in with more strength, I would try it again. And I did. And I confess... I threw it away 😖 this was the first time I threw a neopian food in the litter bin, I'm not proud of it (far from it!) and I can assure you I will never make any more brain foods!
Other than that... enjoy! (?)

Squishy Brain Wrap - X - I know this is not supposed to happen but the truth is this food, for me, does not deserve not even one star, I'm sorry (I really am!). I was honestly repulsed by this food and I must also mention that if it wasn't for the entertainment purpose only I wouldn't even have tasted it. That's how bad it was for me (and believe me when I say it takes a lot for a food to have this effect on me due to flavour). No more bainy foods for me, thanks! 😕

You can not believe how happy I was when, this year, I was able to get this ingredient to make some spooky dishes - pork's brain!
Last year I tried to get it but the butcher simply wouldn't order it giving me a ton of excuses. Well this year was different. Not only did I get it, but I also wasn't charged for it 😁 of course I had to make a huge order of meat to get the brain (I added my mom's meat order to mine to make a big one) but at least we got the brain 😊
Now, I must say this was my first time preparing and cooking this ingredient and Spaghetti and Brains - This messy dish has chunks of brain mixed in with the pasta - seemed like the perfect spooky food to start with this ingredient. And it was! It's just a shame that I honestly don't fancy brain as a food 😕 maybe it has something to do with the aroma, or the texture, maybe I should have used spaghetti instead of noodles (the aroma is different), maybe I didn't prepare the brain properly (I did wash it well and got rid of most of the fat and outer membrane - and I even added lemon juice! 😩)... or maybe this ingredient has some psychological effect on me. Maybe "all of the above". I don't know *shrugs*. I still have one recipe to go using this ingredient... lets see... but for now...

Spaghetti and Brains -⭐⭐⭐ - three stars and with some sacrifice 😐 the noodles, egg and ketchup were alright but I did not enjoy the aroma of the brain, nor the texture. And I also believe my own brain created a barrier towards this ingredient. So, yeah, this was spaghetti and brains just for you 😅
