Shenkuu Shrimp Fried Rice

Hello!

Today's neopian recipe on the menu is Shenkuu Shrimp Fried Rice - Shenkuu Mountain shrimp are extremely rare...not many survive mountain life.

This was news to me because I had never cooked fried rice before... well, at least not this way, which was the closest I got to the fried rice recipes out there right now.

Anyway, as you may know, I have no way to get Shenkuu shrimp (and I believe all of us don't 😂) so I just picked the most exotic/weird looking shrimp I found on the supermarket.

The end result was an amazing bowl of Shenkuu shrimp fried rice that was our dinner and left us craving for more!!!

Shenkuu Shrimp Fried Rice -  ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 - this neopian dish ends up with four and a half stars because it was amazingly delicious and the more we had, the more we would eat. Those shrimps might not be from Shenkuu but they tasted amazing!

Apple and Brie Omelette

Hello!

Today I am bringing you a neopian food I've made in January, pretty much right after New Year celebration because I had a lot of remaining cheeses and fruit from it 😄 so I decided to make the Apple and Brie Omelette - Apple and Brie? Must be the latest fad in Tyrannia.

It was a very pleasant omelette to eat but I felt like the Brie and the apples were not flavorful enough to make it a very big deal. All in all it almost felt like both flavors cancelled each other 😅. Which is a real bummer 'cause usually cheese and apple go really really well together!

Apple and Brie Omelette - ⭐⭐⭐ - This omelette received three stars because, despite not being unpleasant, the flavor ended up being a bit bland for my taste. I was expecting a bit more from the combo of cheese and apple but, in this case, and I suspect it was because of the cheese being Brie, the combo was not very "in your face" flavorful.

Cheesy Courgette Slice

How about sharing a simpler neopian food like the Cheesy Courgette Slice - Three generous slices of baked courgette stuffed with lots of melted cheese.?

I must confess I am a cheese lover so this had to be done 😁 Now, I know that courgettes taste pretty much like nothing, and I should have been a bit more demanding on the cheese I used, but I had just bought a package of a mixture of shredded cheeses and I thought "why not?", well, now I know I should have used stronger cheeses for this, not that this wasn't good enough, but the watery courgette flavour almost won over the very little flavoured cheeses I used - a mix of mimolette and mozzarella - gladly I used some salt. Well, lesson learnt I guess 😜

Cheesy Courgette Slice - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I rated this neopian food with four stars because it tasted more of cheese than anything else. And I am a cheese lover. It was a good savory snack and the crunch from the courgette really gave this another dimension, since it wasn't cooked all the way through, so I had crunchy and creamy all together, which was really good!

Veggie Delight Omelette

I was missing me some omelettes 😋 This is the Veggie Delight Omelette - Lashings of peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms make this omelette a vegetarian feast! And the description is totally accurate! I was not the one eating this omelette but I could tell just by making it and just by looking at it that this was, indeed, a vegetarian feast (don't forget that even though this has eggs it can be considered vegetarian, since there is a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet (includes dairy and eggs)).

Now, this omelette was the first Neopian omelette I've made using my tamagoyaki frying pan. After a change of comments on Neopets Nation Facebook Group with Kimber Gonzalez and Becca Garcia, I came to the conclusion that I really had to get a tamagoyaki pan to try this. I had already wanted this pan for quite some time now and I finally got it. And the omelette came out just really rectangular 😁

Veggie Delight Omelette - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - This omelette was rated with four stars. It was a yummy fluffly omelette with all the nutrition and flavour of the used veggies (mushrooms, bell pepper and tomato). And those veggies are a great combo!

Faerie Bread

Hello!

In the facebook group Neopets Nation, Lavinia Nastas mentioned it, Katrina Henriques showed it, I set my sights on it and I knew I HAD to make it!

This is the Fairy Bread - The sprinkles on top are so crunchy! And I have to thank the Australian: first for mentioning this on the group and second for inventing such a funny treat!

Not difficult to make at all, just make sure to use butter, real butter. And not margarine ;)

Faerie Bread - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - This cute bread receives four stars because, even though it's not the most delicious thing in the world, it is super funny, super cute and it still tastes good. Simple as that :) It just doesn't have five stars as rate because the crunch from the sprinkles actually hurt my teeth a bit :/

Sugared Meatballs

Today I'm bringing you a gross food called Sugared Meatballs - Eww yuck, who would want to eat sugared meatballs?

This was mentioned by Erin A Lucy on the facebook group Neopets Nation. And her questions are legit, I mean, we do indeed eat sweet and sour dishes and we add sugar and other types of sweetners to our foods. So, how yucky could these sugared meatballs be, actually? 

I ended up volunteering to cook my version of these meatballs and share my opinion. I used beef and pork meat, lard, eggs, bread crumbs and sugar for the meatballs, then I cooked them with a soy sauce, mirin, sugar, garlic and ginger paste, sake and rice vinegar sauce to give them a sweeter glaze, and I finished them with three different coatings: regular granulated sugar, cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar.

Sugared Meatballs - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 - I have different ratings for the different coatings of the meatballs. My favourite was definitely the one covered with powdered sugar and that received four and a half stars. The others (cinnamon sugar, regular sugar and with no coating, just the glaze sauce) received four stars. Here's the deal: the one covered in regular sugar was overpoweringly sweet, the cinnamon sugar one could have had more cinnamon to make a difference and stand out somehow but the cinnamon in it only ended up cutting the sweetness from the sugar, the one with only the glaze could be perfectly served as a dish in a meal because it was not that sweet and my favourite, the powdered sugar one was a very nice balance between sweet and salty. All in all they weren't yucky at all and after some considerations I would definitely serve the sugar covered ones as an unusual sweet treat, and the ones with only the glaze as part of a dish in a meal.

Seaweed Omelette

Hello!

Today I bring you the Seaweed Omelette - Add a bit of green to your diet by eating seaweed with your omelette! This must have been funny to eat. And somewhat exotic. Unfortunately it wasn't me who ate it but my boyfriend said it was one of the most delicious omelettes he has ever eaten so... I trust him on this 😁

Seaweed Omelette - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - my boyfriend rated this with four stars because despite being something he is not used to eat in an omelette, he still thinks is delicious. Different... but delicious!
